Baby Gleason # 3

For those who don't know yet we are expecting our 3rd baby in early July. I went and saw my midwife last night for my 12-week appt. and heard the heartbeat. What a sweet and reassuring sound. We have kept this pregnancy very much to ourselves and now feel comfortable sharing our good news. I have had an amazingly easy 1st trimester compared to my other two pregnancies. Minimal nausea, just a few weeks of real exhaustion.

G went with me to my appt. so she could hear the heartbeat (Matt had to work) and she seemed a little confused when I told her what the sound was. When we got home, she and Darby were in the bath together and Matt and I tried to explain to the girls what it meant to have a baby in my tummy. This is what Darby said, "See it."
Me, "Well honey you can't see it yet." Darby, "See it." Me, "Honey you won't be able to see it for a while."
This continued until Georgia piped up and said, "Will Darby get to stay with us?"
I guess she thought maybe the new baby would replace Darby.
Today on the way home she said, "Momma, when the new baby comes do we get to keep Darby?"
Maybe I should stop asking Matt "What is wrong with this baby?" when D is having one of her crying fits. I think Georgia thinks we want to get a better baby. Funny and kind of sad she would think I would ever get rid of my precious Darby.

I am sure this pregnancy will lead lead to many funny moments with our other children. Oh, Georgia is also adamant that the baby be a girl. She has made it clear a boy will be unacceptable.

In other news D pulled my Nikon D40 off a shelf and broke the motor in the lens so I am waiting on a new lens to get here. I am so hoping it gets here before X-mas but I am doubtful. What timing. So no pictures today. I have taken a few with our other camera but I have to hook it up to the computer and I don't feel like finding the cord.

Merry Christmas to all and hopefully I will get some pics up soon!

Slow Month

November was a bit of a slow month so I gave myself a break from the blog. Bur here we are in December already and things will be picking up. Here are just a few pics of what we did in November (which wasn't much to photograph). D and G have taken to playing night night. They spend a lot of time putting each other to bed and sometimes even Daddy gets in on it.
These sticky letters were a great investment. Lots of fun and time spent sticking them everywhere.
I can't remember if Darby did this to herself or if G or even I did it to her.

G is taking a gymnastics class and the girls love to put on their "Tu Tu's."
They are so sweet to each other lately. Georgia is really good with Darby and loves to help her.

Daddy was out of town the first weekend in Nov. and the weather was gorgeous so I let the girls go all out with the paint.

Darby loved it until the paint started drying on her skin. That really freaked her out.

Right about this time she started clawing her stomach and screaming.

Matt turned 30 on the 8th.

Georgia was invited to a princess tea party but was a little too shy to participate in the dressing up.

We made feather hats for Thanksgiving.

Our annual family Thanksgiving photo.

G and D playing with a little friend.

I am not sure who is forcing who to hold hands.

Darby did a number on her spice cake.
Nanue and Big Poppa came to see us the day after Thanksgiving.
Darby always takes right to them when they visit.
I will try to get back to my weekely updates and take more pictures. Both girls are so cute right now and so fun to be with.

Halloween '09

Treats we made for playgroup on Wed.
Climbing in the toy box at playgroup.

Darby and her friend Abi.

Daddy and Darby at the parade at school on Thursday.

G and D watching the parade but not participating. I hate the parade, my kids hate seeing me once they have been dropped off.

Me and my girls at the Boo Ha Ha Parade on Saturday, Halloween.

G dressed and ready to go get candy.

And again.

Oooops

The girls and I were playing in Darby's room this afternoon and Matt was in the living room watching football. Darby ran out and G and I continued to play. In the back of my head I heard that mommy voice say "It is too quite out there." Apparently flour doesn't make a sound when it falls off a shelf. I wish so badly I could've watched this happen but instead I just got to clean it up.

Pumpkin Patch

We took the girls to a pumpkin patch today and had so much fun. They are both old enough to have fun doing that kind of thing and I love this phase.
Georgia trying to pick out a pumpkin.

So many to choose from.

Maybe these two?

They had a turtle in a cage and my girls love turtles.

Climbing the pumpkin hills.

Taking a ride in the wagon with our chosen pumpkins.

It is really cute when Darby says pumpkin.

And this is Georgia with her decorated pumpkin.

Amarillo and Back

Well we finally made the drive to Amarillo and back. It has been 2 years since we have been there and it was time. The car rides were not exactly pleasant but no need to dwell on that. We had a blast being there and spending time with family. We left early on Friday morning and made a stop at the OKC zoo to break up the drive. Georgia had been up Thursday night running a fever so she was a little punkish but by the time we got to Amarillo she was her normal spunky self.
Riding a baby elephant. Every time G sees one of these statues she asks "Is it dead or not real?"

We took a train ride and I got to love on my sweet Darby.

Nanue and Big Poppa closed on a new house two weeks ago which was part of the reason for the trip. It is a great place and we loved it. Reminded us of home.

The house is on a lake and in a gated community.
Darby fell in love with Big Poppa and was always asking about him.

They have and awesome children's museum we went to with the cousins. This thing simulated clouds.

Caroline bouncing balls.

We spent a long time playing on the sand tables. The circle spun and you could make designs in the sand.

Darby only ate a little sand.

Georgia and Jack.

Lots of treats to be had at Nanue's. The girls averaged two Popsicles a night.

The lake area is overpopulated with deer and they have little fear of humans. The girls got such a kick watching them through the big windows.

Nanue and her blue-eyed babies.

All of the cousins.
Oh, and don't forget the ice cream sandwiches.

Georgia had so much fun playing with Caroline it makes me sad they live so far away.

Darby and Jack never really played together, more just checked each other out.

Darby working on saying "cheese."

It was a great trip and we are so happy to have the memories and for Georgia to know Nanue and Big Poppa don't live at the airport.
